President Mahama has described as unnecessary the various commentaries and open attacks on the justices who sat on the just ended election petition case.
He said the attention of the nation must be directed at building a united and developed state instead of attacking the panel who adjudicated over the matter.
The President’s comment comes in the wake of open media attack on the judges who sat on the election petition trial by the two main parties involved in the case.
Lead counsel for the NDC Tsatsu Tsikata on Saturday accused Justice Anin Yeboah of allowing his political bias to cloud his judgment.
The former law lecturer said Justice Anin-Yeboah consistently took an opposing stance against the NDC’s arguments and position as far as the case was concerned, from the outset.
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, the Executive Director of the Danquah Institute also described the judgment by the Supreme Court as corrupt.
But addressing a delegation from the Muslim Community led by the National Chief Imam, the President said Ghana must forge ahead in unity and collectiveness.
“I believe that the current commentary that is going on about the Justices of the court is absolutely unnecessary. The court has decided, let’s put the case behind us…lets rally together as a nation, there is a lot of work to do, let’s put our shoulders to the wheel and let’s do that work,” President Mahama said.
For his part, the national chief imam who spoke through his interpreter urged the president to extend the opportunities in the country to all Ghanaians.
