Atta Mills joins people of Nyakrom to celebrate Akwambo

Agona Nyakrom C/R, Aug 9, GNA – Professor John Atta Mills, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Election 2008, joined the chiefs and the people of Agona Nyakrom to celebrate their Akwambo Festival on Tuesday.

Prof Mills told the people the people that he did not come to campaign and solicit for votes but as a citizen of the town. He did not make any political speech.

“I am not here as a flagbearer of NDC but as citizen of Nyakrom to take part in the celebration of the festival to take stock of the past in order to move the town forward.” Nana Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh-Eku X, Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, said the objective of the festival was to raise funds to rehabilitate education structures.

He appealed to citizens of Nyakrom who had come home for the

festival not to overspend spend money on merrymaking but they

should pay their development levies. Prof Mills gave GHC 1,000 (10 million cedis cash) and four bottles

of schnapps to the chiefs and the people towards the celebration of

the festival.
