Atta Mills ‘accused’ of bad faith

Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Professor J. E. A. Mills stands accused of bad faith following the publication in the media of a discussion between him, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, President Kufuor, National Security Minister Francis Poku and the President’s Secretary D. K. Osei.

The discussion as published by the New Democrat newspaper of last Friday centred on a discussion between the above named persons following a concern expressed by the NDC leader about a Vanguard newspaper publication about his health.

Professor Mills, who can best be linked to an NDC publication, is being accused of leaking details of a discussion with no less a personality than Kofi Annan and the president.

Unhappy about a publication in the Vanguard concerning the unending rumours about his health, Professor Mills reportedly complained and confronted National Security Minister Francis Poku accusing him of masterminding such publications about him.

It has been confirmed to the dailyEXPRESS that the NDC leader did confront and make the accusation against Mr. Poku, but according to a Castle source, the concern now is whether there will be the need to enter into any other discussions with the NDC leader “if he will leave a meeting with Mr. Annan and the president and reveal details for a news publication. That’s bad faith.”

Though we were unable to reach Professor Mills at the time of going to bed (they were at the Ga mantse funeral), an insider sought to deny that he was the source of the news publication. According to her, it looks rather likely that some ‘trusted persons’ he told about the Castle meeting passed on the information to their friends at the New Democrat.
