Lawyer for former Road and Highways Minister, Nana Ato Dadzie has debunked claims that his client, Ato Quarshie absconded from justice.
Ex Serious Fraud Office boss, Theophilus Cudjoe, told the Public Accounts Committee that Mr. Ato Quarshie was indicted over his involvement in dubious transactions between government and German company CP.
According to him, Mr. Ato Quarshie and others were charged with conspiracy to defraud the state in the CP transaction which has led to the nation losing colossal sums of money to the company in the form of judgment debts.
But in an interview with XYZ News, Nana Ato Dadzie stated that his client was never caught up in any fraudulent act as being alleged.
“Mr. Ato Quarshie was never arrested, he was never charged, a caution statement was taken from him which is a routine police investigation” Nana Ato Dadzie said.
He added that “Ato Quarshie was never arraigned before any court so to come and sit there and make claims that Ato Quarshie is a fugitive from justice is very disappointing.
“If he claims that he has submitted 26 dockets to the Attorney General and they have not been prosecuted he should seek to find out why. It could also be that his investigations were porous”.
