Atebubu MP appeals for calm

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amantin constituency in the Brong Ahafo region, Hon. Sanja Nanja has called for calm in the area.

His call comes after deadly attacks on some Fulani herdsmen allegedly by some Konkombas.

Reports indicated that the incident left about 1,000 cattle dead.

Hon. Sanja Nanja in an interview described the attack as needless and called for calm.

“If it is really true that something of that sort happened, my appeal to them is that any aggrieved persons should seek redress at the appropriate quarters rather than people taking the law into their own hands.”

Hon. Sanja also admonished the police to be proactive in dealing with the situation.

“In 2010 when this similar issue cropped up at Akokua, Amantin and some villages, all the national security apparatus moved to Atebubu and we had a meeting with the two parties there.”

“We were able to resolve the issue between the Fulanis and the farmers so I will advice that if there is anything of that sort, any aggrieved party should seek redress at the appropriate quarters, I don’t think this should bring any serious conflict in the area.”
