At The Stock Exchange

Accra, Aug. – Volume of shares on the stock exchange today slumped during trading with some blue chip equities extending their market gains. The GSE All-Share Index made an upward climb of 1.43 points to 418.10 points, up from Wednesday’s close of 416 .67 points. Shares traded went down to 451, 200 compared to the previous 746,700 traded. Shares offered lagged behind at 782,800 to bids at 6,332,270. Market capitalisation on the strength of increasing share prices of four equities, rose to 2,836.67 billion cedis. It last stood at 2,834.57 billion cedis. On the broader market, there were four price movements. There were no losses. Aluworks Company Limited (ALW) made 100 cedis to close the week at 1,400 cedis followed by Mobil Oil Ghana Limited (MOGL) which gained 50 cedis to end at 6,000 cedis. Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL) was five cedis richer to close at 380 cedis. The other market gainer was Standard Chartered Company (SCB) edged up two cedis to finsh at 5,812 cedis.
