Yefri, (B/A) March 30, GNA – Non-resident citizens of Yefri in Nkoranza District have expressed concern about protracted chieftaincy disputes among traditional rulers in the area, which, they said, had stifled the development of the community.
Mr. Collins Antwi, Chairman of the Greater Accra branch of the Yefri Unity Club (Nkosuo Kuo)”, expressed the citizens’ displeasure about the situation during the inauguration of the club at Yefri during the Easter holidays.
He said the issue had created factions amongst the people, making it difficult for them to come together to initiate development programmes.
Mr. Antwi appealed to the traditional leaders and the members of the royal family to iron out their differences and mobilize the youth to help in the development of the area.
He gave the assurance that the non-residents would offer the needed support towards all on-going development projects in the area and advised the people not to be divided by chieftaincy matters as well as partisan politics.
The chairman expressed gratitude to Okogyeasuo Osei Bonsu, chief of the area, for his able leadership in organizing the people to establish a senior secondary school in the area.
