Assist children not to indulge in immoral acts – Bechemhene

Bechem (B/A) Oct. 4, GNA – Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto II, Omanhene of Bechem Traditional Council has called on parents to endeavour to provide needs of their children to prevent them from indulging in immoral acts to contract HIV/AIDS. He said parents have the responsibilities to ensure their children especially the girl child were provided with better moral standards for the benefit of society.

Nana Akoto, made the call during the inauguration of an HIV/AIDS abstinence club of the Coalition of Life Preservers, an NGO at Bechem. He advocated for the re-introduction of the old custom of puberty rites into the society to protect the dignity of women. Nana Akoto who is also the Chairman of the Club announced that a scholarship scheme would be instituted in the traditional area to assist virgins in the club improve on their education and refrain from immoral acts.

Mr. Kofi Lucas, Ambassador of the Anointed Fellowship International, said 80 per cent of contracting HIV/AIDS was through casual sex.

He called for more intensified education on the menace among the youth.

Mr. Lucas appealed to teachers to inculcate good moral practices through regular religious and moral education in the children.
