Assinman Health Insurance scheme hold annual general meeting

Assin Foso (C/R), April 14, GNA – The Assinman health insurance scheme of Assin North Municipality has so far registered 83,209 people, representing 64 percent coverage of the targeted area since its inauguration four years ago.

Rev. John A. Brown, chairman of Board of Directors of the scheme, said as of January 31 this year, claims totalling GH¢839,022.16 had been paid to service providers.

Addressing the annual general meeting of the scheme at Foso, Mr Brown said the scheme had put up a clinic for the community and commended World Vision Ghana and Assin Area Development Programme, for providing toilet facilities for the clinic.

He commended Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency for donating a computer to facilitate the operations of the scheme.

Rev Brown appealed to the Assembly to provide the scheme with office complex saying that existing office was not spacious enough. He also called for incentives for collectors to enhance efficiency. He appealed to the Municipal Assembly, the World Vision and benevolent organizations to provide the scheme with logistics and also called for total commitment of the community committees, the management team, the board of directors and chairmen in the various localities to enable the Assembly achieve its target of 70 percent registration by June 2008.

Mr Emmanuel Badu, Central Regional Manager of the scheme, disclosed that his outfit had started issuing ID cards to its clients to enable them access medical care at hospitals in any part of the region. He said the survival of the scheme would depend on the efficient management of health providers and clients and asked them to be committed in their work and make judicious use of the scheme’s funds.
