Assin South NPP moves to forge unity

Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Assin South Constituency, have met to settle their differences after the party primaries.

The large gathering was attended by the council of elders, patrons and constituency executives of the NPP who took turns to re-echo the dire need to bury the hatchet and form a united front for the battle ahead.

Mr Denis Owusu Ambrose, Constituency Chairman, who convened the meeting, spoke to Ghana News Agency on the sidelines.

“This is sending a strong signal out there that the party is determined to go into election 2016 with a united front.

“We believe in development in freedom and that is exactly what we have exhibited,” he said.

Mr Ambrose said the challenges ahead of the party demands that members and supporters speak with “one voice” to ensure unity of purpose to recapture political power and restore hope and confidence to Ghanaians.

He said the party could not afford to allow petty squabbles to draw it back, adding, it is time each of them accepts to place the NPP ahead of individual ambitions and interests.

Professor Robert Kingsford Adaboh, a losing parliamentary aspirant pledged to work to strengthen the party’s structures at all levels.

He said he is confident of NPP’s chances of returning to power in the next election given the resolve to deepen the fortunes of the party in the area.

“With this poor performance by the Mahama, Amissah Arthur led Administration, I am very optimistic that Nana Addo and Bawumia will salvage Ghanaians from the economic doldrums in 2017,” he added.
