Assin South District Assembly elects a Presiding Member

Assin Nsuaem (C/R), Nov. 2, GNA – Mr Anthony Arthur, a Teacher has been elected the first Presiding Member of the newly created Assin South District Assembly.

In an election held at Nsuaem, the District Capital, and supervised by the District Electoral Officer, Mr Arthur polled 26 votes as against two by Mr Andrews Esuo Prah.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Mr Arthur exhorted members of the Assembly, the staff and Heads of Government Departments to commit themselves to the welfare of the people of the new district. He urged the workers not to let lack of facilities and amenities have any adverse effect on their work but rather, they should adjust themselves to the conditions of the area to enable them to feel comfortable during their stay.

“As pioneers of the assembly, we must ensure that the history of the new District is written on a clean sheet,” he advised. The PM urged the members to do away with divisive tendencies and work as a team to move the District forward.
