Assin North citizens raise funds to support court project

Assin Foso (C/R), April 14, GNA – The chiefs and people of Assin North on Saturday raised a total of GH¢6,100 to support a court building project currently being constructed for the district. Mr Kennedy Agyepong, Member of Parliament (MP), for Assin North constituency, during a fund raising rally, donated GH¢1,000 of the amount and promised to bear the cost of roofing the complex.

The project, estimated at GH¢25 million, is being undertaken through communal labour by the chiefs and people of Assin Foso and the staff of the district magistrate court.

His Lordship Justice Marfo Siaw, an Appeal Court Judge, who stood in for Mrs Georgina Wood, Chief Justice, said the court, when completed would be computerized to train magistrates and judges. Mr Kwabena Karkari Apau, District Chief Executive for Assin North urged citizens of Assin Foso to contribute either in kind or cash to facilitate the early completion of the project.

Mr Joseph Blay, District Magistrate said the building when completed would have a district and a circuit court.

He commended the MP and the chiefs and people of the area for their meaningful contributions towards the project and appealed to individuals and organisations in the district to continue to make more donations to ensure its speedy completion.
