Assin GES honours Best Teachers

The Assin District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has awarded its Best Teachers for 1999-200, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 at a ceremony at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.

Under the theme “Enhancing education delivery through incentive package”, more than 22 teaching and non-teaching staff from the primary and junior secondary schools received various items.

The items included sets of dishing pots, cooking utensils, gas cookers and cylinders.

The 1999-2000 award winner, Miss Eliza Dadzie from the Asamankese Ahmadiyya Primary School received a suitcase, while the 2000-2001 best teacher, Mr Kwesi Gyasi Bansah from the Tabil D/C JSS took home a Television set.

Miss Mercy Baffoe Dwumah from Adubiase Methodist Primary School who emerged the best teacher for 2001-2002 had a television set as her prize.

The best science teacher award of sewing machine went to Dawood Dadzie Aboagye, while Mr William Akwasi Akromah, a non-teaching staff, received a television set. Both of them were from the Assin Manso Secondary School.

Miss Patience Anima Dartey, Assin District Director of Education, said she was not happy that headmasters were exempted from the Best Teacher Award Scheme.

She appealed to the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to also honour them, since they generate interest and organise fertile environment for effective teaching and learning.
