Assemblyman visits flooded area

Accra(Greater Accra) 25 Oct ’98

Mr Joseph Y. Yartey, assemblyman for Adabraka Official Town/Sahara Electoral area, has reiterated the call by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s (AMA) to the residents to vacate the place to pave way for the dredging of the Korle Lagoon project. He gave the reminder last Friday night when he spent about two hours inspecting damage caused by floods in the area following last Friday’s downpour. He advised residents living in flood-prone areas to switch off their lights and remove their belongings before they are destroyed. Mr Yartey assured the people that he would consult the assembly to acquire a safer place for their resettlement. Early Saturday morning, the assemblyman went round again to assess the extent of damage caused to property. There was, however, no casualty.
