Assemblyman Urges GETFUND to Assist Re-roof School.

Tengzug (U/E), Dec. 12, GNA – The Assemblyman for Tengzug Electoral Area in the Talensi-Nabdam District of the Upper East Region, Mr. John Bawah, has appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GET-Fund) to assist the community with material to re-roof three classrooms of the local primary school, saying that the residents would provide communal labour.

The classrooms had their roofs ripped off by a rainstorm during the just-ended rainy season.

Mr. Bawah made the appeal when he and the headteacher of the school, Mr. Patrick Teegaya, conducted newsmen round the premises on Friday.

The Assemblyman said the current state of the school was having an adverse effect on academic work because all the pupils were crammed in three classrooms, with some having lessons under trees. The situation made it difficult for teachers to conduct lessons conveniently, he added.

He also appealed to the newly-created Talensi-Nabdam District Assembly, the Department of Feeder Roads, and NGOs to help complete work on the four-kilometer road linking Wakiga to Tongo central.
