Assemblyman requests for fire station

Mankranso (Ash), May 7, GNA – Mr Christopher Amofah, Assemblyman for Mankranso electoral area, has requested the Ashanti Regional Fire officer to open a fire station at Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South District as a matter of urgency, to cater for the district capital and its surrounding villages, which have electricity.

Mr Amofah made the request during a general meeting with his electorate at Mankranso on Friday. He said the opening of the fire station at the district capital is very important, adding that the nearest stations are at Kumasi, which is 30 miles away and Tepa, a distance of 40 miles from Mankraso.

The assemblyman said that if fire service personnel were stationed at Mankranso, it would facilitate the formation of rural fire fighting volunteers in the district.

Mr Amofah cautioned the people to be extra careful in the use of domestic electrical appliances. He advised them to avoid indiscriminate bush-burning to prevent bushfires.
