Assemblyman commends returnees

Dotobaa (B/A), Oct. 31, GNA – Mr. Karim Wiafe-Ababio, Assemblyman for Dotobaa Electoral Area in the Nkoranza District of Brong-Ahafo Region has commended returnees from Libya resident in the area for their communal labour and voluntary spirit.

Mr. Wiafe-Ababio made the commendation when addressing 30 of the returnees after working on the three-kilometre Dotobaa-Bonsu feeder road on Wednesday.

They filled potholes on the road, which had virtually become impassable due to erosion caused by the current rains. Mr. Wiafe-Ababio described the youth’s show of concern and commitment for the development of their community as “very encouraging” and stressed the need for them to maintain their unity to enable them initiate more of such positive programmes.

He urged the returnees to engage in income-generating activities and form co-operatives in their communities to benefit from credit facilities to support their economic activities.

The Assemblyman called on the youth in the area to emulate the Libyan returnee colleagues and assist in developing the community. He urged the returnees to be disciplined and refrain from any negative practices that could affect their lifestyles.

He expressed concern about the deplorable condition of the Bonsu-Dotobaa-Asonkwaa feeder road and pleaded with the Department of Feeder roads to rehabilitate it to enhance movements of the people and their farming produce.
