Assemblyman calls for the tarring of road

Kumasi, July 13, GNA – Mr Sampson Adu-Poku, Assemblyman for Ntribuoho in the Kwabre District of Ashanti, on Wednesday renewed his appeal to the Department of Feeder Roads to tar the three-and-half-kilometre Afrancho-Ntribuoho-Sasa road. He said the nature of the road and the landscape especially the “U-shaped” portion from Afrancho to Hemang has become risky of late.

Speaking to newsmen in Kumasi, Mr Adu-Poku said last month six vehicles including an articulator loaded with a grader skidded off the road resulting in one death. He said the clay nature of the road makes certain portions very slippery and difficult when it rains and stressed the need for it’s tarring to avoid accidents.

The assemblyman expressed regret that his numerous appeals for the road to be tarred had not received attention. ”Factories that sprang up in the area have collapsed due to the nature of the road and foodstuffs are locked up as drivers refuse to ply the road especially when it rains,” Mr Adu-Poku
