An embargo has been placed on the approval and construction of a filling station at Nkonsia by the Wenchi Municipal District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region.

This information was revealed by the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive (DCE) Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie when he paid a working visit to the construction site on Tuesday June 6, 2017.

Briefing the press, the Chairman of the Municipal Security Council said the Assembly has given the owners of the filling station two weeks to produce all documents covering the project. He said, before the producing those documents, the Assembly has ordered them to stop work with immediate effect.

He disclosed that the decision to stop the construction was taken at an emergency Municipal Security Council meeting.

It was readily not clear what consideration the Assembly took in arriving at such a decision, but residents of Nkonsia community have been calling on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to come to their aid to help stop construction works at the filling station to avoid a repeat of June 3 disaster in Wenchi and its surrounding villages.
