New Edubiase (Ash), Feb 18, GNA – The Adansi South District Assembly has set up a five-member committee to investigate circumstances that led to the inclusion of the 31st December Women’s Movement Day-Care Centre at New Edubiase benefiting from the capitation grant. The committee is also to look into the mode of employment of pupil teachers in the district by the District Education Director. It has two weeks to present its report.
The setting up of the committee was necessitated by concerns raised by some assembly members at the assembly’s sitting on Wednesday during which they queried the inclusion of the 31st December Women’s Movement Day-Care Centre as a beneficiary of the capitation grant when it was meant for only public schools.
It was also in response to a letter written by one C.O. Anokye, an Assistant Director of Education in-charge of Finance and Administration about allegations and insinuation levelled against some frontline Assistant Directors of Education by Mrs Veronica Essuman Nelson, the District Director of Education.
Nana Kwaku Amoah, the Presiding Member of the assembly who inaugurated the committee, charged them to do a thorough job to enable the assembly to take the necessary steps to bring decency into the education sector in the district. Mr Francis Dorpenyoh, the Adansi South District Chief Executive, asked all those who have information on the issues that will help the committee to achieve its objectives to furnish it with the information. He gave the assurance that the assembly would protect any person or group of persons who will help the committee in its work to ascertain the truth.
