Assembly set up committee toreexamine works of councils

Nkawie (Ash), March 19, GNA – The Atwima District Assembly has set up a committee to re-examine the activities of Area Councils in the district.

Mr Peter Yaw Mensah, District Chief Executive, said this in his sessional address at the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Nkawie. He noted that, the Assembly has problems implementing directives of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on Area Councils.

The DCE said some of the structures, may be shifted to Akropong, a community within the district. He said information given during the Population and Housing Census, would be confidential and called on Assembly Members to encourage the people to co-operate enumerators.

Mr Mensah urged politicians to ensure that, their campaign for presidential and parliamentary elections this year peaceful.
