Accra, Aug. 26, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) is refurbishing the Ga-Mantse Palace at a cost of 850 million cedis to give it a state of the- art status.
The Assembly has so far spent about 340 million cedis on the project.
The renovation works, which started about two months ago was mooted by the AMA Chief Executive, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson and included the provision of new sliding doors and windows, refurbishment of the palace’s main halls and provision of new furniture.
The others are painting of the entire palace, re-grassing and re-hedging.
Nii Blankson, who handed over the first phase of the project on Thursday, thanked the Chiefs for their understanding and commitment to the successful completion of the project to give the Ga-Mantse Palace a befitting status since Accra was the capital of the nation. Nii Adotey Obuor II, Acting Ga-Mantse, commended the AMA for giving the Ga-Mantse palace a suitable facelift.
He said since 1965 when the palace was built it had not seen any major renovation and pledged on behalf of the entire Chief to maintain the structures very well.
Nii Adotey Obuor also called on residents to help the AMA to keep the Metropolis clean.
