Assembly re-elects Dr Ayarkwah as Presiding Member

Ejura (Ash), Oct. 26, GNA – The Ejura-Sekyedumase District Assembly on Friday re-elected Dr Joshua Ayarkwah as its Presiding Member.

Dr Ayarkwah, 46, a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi was the sole candidate, was elected by popular acclamation.

He polled 38 out of the 45 votes cast in the election conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).

In his acceptance speech, Dr Ayarkwah thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to discharge his duties to the benefit of the Assembly and the District.

He expressed his gratitude for the support and co-operation he received from the Assembly members during his first term in office and expressed the hope that they would continue to give him that support and co-operation to make his second term in office an equally successful one.

Madam Elizabeth Owusu, the District Chief Executive, urged the Assembly members to sensitise the people on the importance of comporting themselves to go through an incidence-free election.

She said it was the prerogative of the individual to join a party of his or her choice and therefore called for tolerance and urged those who contributed during phone-ins and radio discussions to do so with circumspection.
