Assembly presents items to fire volunteers

Tepa (Ash), Jan 24, GNA- The Ahafo-Ano North District Assembly has presented items valued at 12.6 million cedis to 720 fire volunteer squads in the district.

The items include 120 pairs of Wellington boots, 100 pieces of cutlasses, four packets of flashlights and eight packets of dry cell batteries.

Making the presentation at Tepa on Friday, Mr Akwasi Adu-Poku, the District Chief Executive, said the items were in recognition of the good work the volunteers did last year to prevent bush fires in the district and to motivate them to do the same this year.

Mr Joseph Kwabena Donkor, the District Fire Officer, receiving the items on behalf of the volunteers, thanked the assembly and assured them that the items would be distributed to the volunteers.
