Assembly pays counterpart fund to support poverty alleviation

Nkawie (Ash), Oct 14, GNA – The Atwima District Assembly has paid 325 million cedis as its counterpart fund to support the Poverty Reduction Programme in the District. Mr Charles Yeboah, District Chief Executive, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the assembly paid 10 per cent on every Social Investment Fund (SIF) project while the beneficiary community paid 15 per cent and the government paid the remaining percentage. They included a block of six classrooms at Nerebehi; a block of three classrooms at Tanodumase and another block of six classrooms with an office, store and furniture at Barekese. Others include blocks of six classrooms at Nkawie for the Anglican Primary School and at Adankwame. The DCE said the Assembly supplied dual desks to schools at Pamuroso Number Two; Donkoto; Adupri; Nsuontem and Pasoro. He said on-going SIF projects included a block of six classrooms at Otaakrom and Akrofrom and blocks of three classrooms at Aboabogya and at Dabaa. The Dabaa project has a KVIP in addition.
