Assembly Organizes Workshop For Women

Essikado (Western Region), 30 Oct.,

The Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly will grant soft loans to individuals and identifiable groups engaged in income generating activities. Mr. Kofi Gyamson, Assemblyman for Adiembra, said this today at a one-day entrepreneurship awareness seminar for female Junior and senior Secondary School products and unemployed women at Essikado near Sekondi. The seminar was organized by the Assembly and the Netherlands Development Organization (SAEMO). The Assembly will earmark 20 per cent of its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund for the loan scheme. Mr. Gyampson, who deputized for the Presiding Member of the Assembly, said beneficiaries are expected to repay the loans which will attract a minimal interest. A committee was being set up to vet applicants for the loan.
