Assembly, MP, provide accoutrements to enhance fire volunteers’ work

Nkoranza (B/A), April 12, GNA – Mr. Kwabena Sene, Zonal Chairman of the Fire Volunteers Squad at Anama and Breme in the Nkoranza District, has commended the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Hayford Francis Amoako, for providing cutlasses and Wellington boots to enhance their activities.

Mr. Sene told Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza that the offer had encouraged the squad members, as that was the first time that they had received such support.

Even though each of the volunteers could get some of the items, they had shown their appreciation for the efforts of the Assembly and the MP in recognising their voluntary services, he added. He gave the assurance that the volunteers would not relent but work harder to combat bushfires during the harmattan to save the environment, farms and other property from destruction.

Mr. Sene appealed to Unit Committees, Assembly Members and traditional authorities to support local fire volunteers to carry out their activities effectively to enhance the development of the communities.

He also called on the District Assembly and the MP to provide more cutlasses and Wellington boots to ensure that all the volunteers in the district had access to step-up their operations. Mr. Sene appealed to non-governmental organisations and individuals to support the volunteers financially or logistically to boost their work.
