Assembly members want Offinso MCE removed

A rift between some members of the Offinso Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) appears to be worsening with calls for his removal from office.

The aggrieved assembly members have vowed to pass a vote of no confidence in Baffour Kesse Amankwaah and had petitioned the Presiding Member of the Assembly to convene an emergency meeting to take the vote.

They are accusing him of incompetence, poor performance and reckless spending.

They also claim the MCE had been taking unilateral decisions and stalling the development of the Municipality, charges, he had dismissed.

Mr Amankwaah told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the accusations were inspired by political mischief and should be ignored.

He asserted that he had been running an open and transparent administration and that significant progress had been brought to the people under his watch.

“The evidence is there for all to see”, he said, adding that he would not be distracted.
