Assembly members urged to desist from distractive criticism

Mr David Adoliba, Presiding Member of the Bawku Municipal Assembly, has called on members of metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to desist from distractive criticisms.

He said such criticisms did not augur well for the development of the assemblies as they brought about divisions among members.

He said there was the need for members to see the interest of the assemblies as paramount so as to aid development of their areas.

Mr Adoliba was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Bawku after the Fourth Ordinary Session of the Bawku Municipal Assembly to deliberate on issues to enhance development.

Mr Adoliba said Ghana needed unity and that when Ghanaians begun to see each other as one people fighting for a common goal, then the nation would be among the powerful countries in the world.

He urged Ghanaians to be patriotic and focus on issues such as public private partnerships to help develop the country in order to build a better home for the future generation.

Mr Issaku Bukari, Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku, urged stakeholders to be inclusive in the fight against Ebola and other communicable diseases because they were a threat to people living in the area.

He said in fighting those diseases there would be the need for residents in the municipality to keep their environments clean since some of the diseases spread through dirt.

He called on all to join the crusade in practicing good sanitation and good personal hygiene since it was the only tool that would help to fight those dangerous diseases in the communities.
