Assembly members must avoid partisan deliberations- MP

Denu (V/R), Dec. 3, GNA – Mr. Albert Zigah, Ketu South Member of Parliament, has appealed to members of the Assembly to be mindful of the non-partisan concept of the decentralisation scheme in order to keep thei= r deliberations in check. Addressing a special meeting of the Assembly at Denu, he said dividi= ng the assembly along partisan lines had the recipe of undermining the development of the area. He called on the members to approve the new fee fixing resolution an= d the budget estimates of GH¢4.1 million for 2010. Mr. Zigah’s comments followed a sharp division of members over the location of a guest house and a bungalow estimated at GH¢230, which was=

stalling the signing of the contracts. “Your work is important for development and you must be informed by that spirit in your thinking, argument and decisions,” Mr. Zigah said. Mr. Zigah asked the members to assist the Assembly in its revenue mobilisation by sensitising the people on their tax obligations.
