Assembly members held hostage for failing to confirm MCE Nominee a second time

Irate supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday afternoon held assembly members hostage for failing to confirm the President’s Municipal Chief Eexecutive Nominee for Yilo Krobo, for the second time.

Mr Ebenezer Kupualor was rejected again after he had 33 yes, 27 no with 2 rejected ballots.

The assembly members were allegedly bribed GHC2,000 each during the first exercise and GHC1,000 before the second exercise but yet refused to approve the nominee.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfuor was whisked away from the melee by the police.

The angry supporters are demanding the assembly members to cough out a total of GHC3000 bribe taken.
