Assembly member decries lawlessness among students

Essam (E/R), Dec. 19, GNA – Mr. Reginald Sackey, Assembly Member for the Essam Electoral Area in the Birim Central Municipal Assembly, has decried recent involvement of students in lawlessness in the country. He cited that students engaged in theft, alcoholism, defilement, assault and robbery and called for effective measures to instil discipline in the youth.

Mr. Sackey, who was addressing school children in the area at Essam on Wednesday, appealed to parents, non-governmental organisations including the Church and school authorities to collaborate efforts in the training of children. He said “teach a child the way he should go so that when he grows up, he will not depart from it”. Mr. Sackey called on the assembly to promote economic activities to create jobs for the youth in the area. 19 Dec. 08
