Assembly initiates best revenue collector’s awards

Mankranso (Ash), May 20, GNA – The Ahafo Ano South District Assembly has instituted best revenue collector’s award as a means to boost tax collection.

Mr Yaw Anning, Presiding Member of the Assembly announced this at a general meeting of revenue collectors held at Mankranso recently. He said without the collectors’ sincerity and honesty in revenue collection the assembly would find it difficult to pay salaries and wages of workers and provide social amenities for the people.

The Assemblies’ Common Fund is not enough to meet the commitments of the assembly and there was, therefore, the need for the collectors to work hard. He said every collector would be given a target and anyone, who fails to achieve it, would be dismissed.

Mr Joseph Akwabeng, District Co-ordinating Director advised them to refrain from issuing out old tickets. He said information reaching him indicated that some of them were not serious with their work while others refuse to render accounts. Anyone caught in that act would be dismissed and prosecuted.
