Assembly builds barracks for Police

Kade (E/R), Mar. 2, GNA – The Kwaebibirem District Assembly is constructing a 357.337 million 12-unit barracks for the Ghana Police Service at Kade in the district.

The first phase of the project is progressing steadily. Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, District Chief Executive announced this at a meeting of the District Assembly at Kade on Tuesday, that the Assembly attached great importance to the housing of Police personnel in the district.

He noted that since social and economic activities in the district were fast growing, there has been a corresponding increase in the crime rate, which called for an effective security network to contain the situation.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye expressed regret, however, that the acute accommodation problem facing the Police Service in the district had made it impossible for the strength of the personnel to be increased.

He explained that this was the reason why the Assembly took it upon itself to help ease the problem by constructing a 12-unit barracks for the police at the district capital.

Meanwhile, work on the first phase of the project was 55 per cent completed.
