Assembly bans Nkawie Zongo foodsellers from selling to the public

Nkawie (Ash), Nov 4, GNA – The Environmental Department of the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Assembly has imposed a two-week ban on cooked food sellers at the Nkawie Zongo from selling to the public. The ban follows reported diarrhoea cases in the Zongo community. Mr Tetteh Annan, Head of the environmental department of the assembly, told the GNA in an interview at Nkawie last Friday that if the food sellers were not banned for a certain period there was the possibility of an outbreak of cholera in the area.

He advised food sellers in the district to prepare their food under very hygienic conditions before selling to the public to avoid the outbreak of cholera in the district.

Mr Annan appealed to unit committees to organize communal labour in their various communities so as to keep their surroundings clean and tidy and to ensure that food vendors sell under hygienic conditions.
