Assembly appeals for electricity supply in communities

Kokuma (B/A) April 30, GNA – Mr. Opoku Donyina, Presiding Member of Kintampo South District Assembly has appealed for electricity supply in some communities in the district.

He called on the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to liaise with the Energy Ministry to assist.

Mr. Donyina, who is the Assembly Member for Kokuma electoral area, near Jema, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) a number of communities in the area lacked power though the people had by themselves erected poles. Under the self-help electrification project, some communities have provided low tension poles in readiness to be connected to the national electricity grid.

Mr. Donyina said the people of Kokuma had erected 40 poles pending their wiring and said Cherechi and Jema Zongo were also working to erect the poles.

He called on the contractor assigned to work at those places to expedite quick action on the projects.
