Ashaiman, April 7, GNA – Two Pastors of the Ashaiman District branch of the Assemblies of God Church have condemned the proposed legalisation of commercial sex in the country.
Reverend Augustine Agbaku and Reverend Samuel Ayamba held that legalising prostitution would not only worsen the immorality in the system, but also compound the social vices plaguing the nation. They were reacting to a proposal by some authorities, including the Ghana AIDS Commission, that commercial sex with be legalised in order to monitor and collect tax from the practitioners.
The two pastors described the proposal as unfortunate and called on all Churches to preach against. They also asked stakeholders to join the campaign against legalising the trade because it might worsen the HIV/AIDS menace, which the nation is grappling with. Besides, the move is against the Biblical message that any nation that falls into immorality faces the wrath of God and must be punished and can foresee the nation such a situation, according to the two Pastors.
They therefore entreated Ghanaians to pray unceasingly towards this move and rather focus on positive issues that would improve their lives.
