Agona Asafo, C/R, April 12, GNA – The Central Region Branch of the Assemblies of God Church is to build a 3-billion cedi skilled training centre in Cape Coast to train the youth in the region to acquire employable skills.
Superintendent Minister in-charge of the region, Reverend Charles Arko- Nunoo who announced this at the four days Easter Convention at Agona Asafo said work on the three-story office complex with a gust house would begin this year.
He said centre would train the youth especially school dropouts, teenage mothers and under privilege people to enable them to become self-reliant.
Rev Arko-Nunoo said the church has established a one billion cedis educational endowment fund to assist needy but brilliant students to enable them to attain higher education. He announced that the Church had established a preparatory school at Agona Swedru and that a bus was purchased for the school at 60 million cedis.
Rev Arko-Nunoo hinted that the Church has entered into partnership with High Adventures Gospel Communication in the USA to set up an FM station at Agona Swedru.
He said equipment for the project would soon arrive in the country adding that the Church was waiting for the Ghana Frequency Board to give it the nod.
Rev Arko-Nunoo appealed to the opposition parties in the country to offer their rich experience and expertise to the New Patriotic Party government towards national development.
He urged the opposition to criticize the government constructively to ensure the beauty of democracy.
Rev Arko-Nunoo asked politicians to be tolerant of each others views and said the country could not afford to go through the type political crises Liberia, Cote D’ lvoire, Sierra Leone and other parts in the West African Sub-region were experiencing due to political intolerance.
He urged Christians to guard against utterances that could spark off violence and war as the country prepared for the 2004 General Elections.
Rev Arko-Nunoo said the death of Jesus Christ on cross should encourage Christians to forgive those who offended them.
