Assassin, chiefs arrested in Eastern Region over failed murder attempt

A 37-year-old suspected assassin and three chiefs have been arraigned before the Nkwakaw Magistrate Court for alleged assassination attempt on Nana Kofi Boamah during his installation Wednesday August 3, 2017.

The chiefs who were arraigned before the court together with the suspect Alidu Seidu for aiding and abetting crime are; Nana Akuoku Boateng, Kyedomhene of Abetifi-Kwahu, Kofi Gyamehene – Asona Abusua panyin of Abetifi-Kwahu and Nana Kofi Agyeman Gyasehene of Kwahu-Nkwatia.

The Kwahu-Nkwatia police in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region arrested the 37-year-old when his locally manufactured pistol failed to fire after aiming at his target Nana Kofi Boamah who was being carried in a palanquin as part of his installation process.

During interrogation the 37-year-old failed assassin disclosed that he was contracted by the three sub chiefs to maim the newly installed chief of the area for a bounty due to their opposition to his installation said the police.

The police later arrested the three sub chiefs and arraigned them before the Nkawkaw Magistrate court.

The four had since been granted bail pending further investigations.
