Aspiring NPP MP pays NHIS premium for 600 people

Axim (W/R), Sept 18, GNA – Miss Catherine Abetema Afeku, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Evalue Dwira Constituency, has paid National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) premium for 600 needy people in the area.

She has also transported NHIS personnel at Axim office to Bamiango, a farming community in the area, to register 380 pregnant women for government’s free medical care for expectant mothers programme. Miss Afeku disclosed these at a sensitization programme dubbed “say no to political violence”, at Bamiango.

She said the gesture was her contribution towards efforts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government to ensure that “every Ghanaian was captured under the Scheme”.

Miss Afeku promised to register 1,950 people from the constituency if given elected as Member of Parliament for the area in the 2008 Election.

She urged the participants to ensure peace and support efforts aimed at preventing conflicts and violence.

Mr Joshua Kwajia-Ellimah, District Chief Executive for Evalue Dwira District, commended Miss Afeku for her contribution to development in the area and urged the people to vote.
