Kumasi, Sept.6, GNA 96 An aspiring assemblyman for the Anwiafutu-Botrampa electoral area in the Atwima-Mponua district of Ashanti, Mr Kwame Boakye, a.k.a Liberiaman, has expressed concern about the lack of development projects in the area.
He said with the exception of a classroom block constructed by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, under the Promoting Partnership with Traditional Authorities Project, the area had not seen any development project since the district assembly concept was introduced in the country.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Wednesday, after mounting a campaign platform organised by the district office of the Electoral Commission on Tuesday, Mr Boakye urged the people to vote for him to reverse the situation.
He mentioned lack of potable water, market, toilet facilities, loan facilities and the deteriorating school infrastructure in the area and promised to collaborate closely with the district assembly to provide the people with some of these facilities to improve on their living conditions.
Mr. Boakye, who is also the assemblyman for the Pramso electoral area in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district, said he had decided to contest the elections in his father’s hometown to bring his experience to help uplift the people from their present under-development. He said he has been able to provide potable water, street lights, classroom blocks and other amenities to Pramso, which was his mother’s hometown and pledged to do similar thing at Anwiafutu-Botrampa, when voted into office.
Mr Boakye said when voted as an assemblyman, he would liaise with the chiefs in the area to establish a development fund, which would be used to undertake development projects in the area.
