Aspirant promises to establish industries

Sunyani (B/A), Nov. 27, GNA- Dr. Barfour Adjei-Barwuah, a Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Monday pledged to establish an industry in each of the 230 constituencies of the country if given the nod to lead the party and subsequently a resounding victory in the 2008 elections.

He stressed the need to motivate the foot soldiers to enable them to embark on intensive house-to-house campaigns to woo more people to the party.

Dr. Adjei-Barwuah was interacting with constituency executives and party faithful from Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra, Northern, Brong-Ahafo and Upper East regions in Sunyani. He explained that the NPP could retain power next year through the efforts and hard work of the foot soldiers who would explain government policies and programmes at the grass root level, and it was important that they were made financially sound.

Dr. Adjei-Barwuah advised the party delegates not to vote on ethnic lines in the impending congress but to consider candidates with international exposure like him to lead the party in 2008. He said there was the need to unveil new dimensions in the country’s political front that could help future generations to become abreast with international policies and programmes. The aspirant noted with regret that the country was endowed with abundant natural resources that could be tapped for accelerated national development, but their mismanagement by previous governments nearly wrecked the nation.

“The good governance of the NPP for the past seven years has helped to alleviate the plight of the citizenry”, Dr. Adjei-Barwuah stated and called on Ghanaians to vote for the party in next year’s general elections.
