Aspirant claims NDC members are defecting to other parties

Bolgatanga, Sept 20, GNA – Mr Bukari Isssahaku, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Bawku Central Constituency, has claimed that many National Democratic congress (NDC) members in the constituency were defecting to other political parties.

He attributed this to the way previous members of parliament handled affairs in the constituency.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga after he had submitted his nomination form at Bawku, Mr Issahaku said he was the only candidate who could convince those who had defected to rejoin the party.

“I have been told personally by many of those who have defected from the party including some delegates that when I stand for the primary they will return to the party”, he said.

Mr Issahaqu is contesting the primary with Mr Mahama Ayariga, a Deputy Minister of Education.

Mr Issahaku said he was the only candidate capable of wrestling the Bawku Central seat from the NPP and appealed to delegates to vote for him
