Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa executes 187 development projects in three years

The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly, has within the past three years undertaken 187 projects, to promote education and also improve the living standard of the people.

The projects include school buildings, health facilities, culverts, foot bridges, rehabilitation of roads, accommodation for Area Council offices and procurement of heavy equipment for road rehabilitation.

The District Chief Executive, Mad. Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, made this known at the Assembly sitting at Breman Asikuma on Wednesday.

She said the projects were financed by the GETFund, Social Investment Fund and the District Assembly Common Fund and that most of the projects had been completed while the rest are 98 percent complete.

Mad. Aboah said the District had qualified for the 2012 FOAT Exercise with a percentage score of 87% and urged members of the Assembly to continue to work hard for more laurels.

She said the Assembly, as at the end of February, collected GH¢44, 094.68 of its targeted Internal Generated Fund (IGF) of GH¢309,485.00 and appealed to Assembly Members to assist management to generate more funds.

She appealed to those who have attained 18 years to register in the on-going biometric voters registration exercise to enable them vote in the December general elections.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Anthony Kobina Amoako, urged the people in the area to desist from pouring insults on government officials and others.

He appealed to the Assembly members to educate their people on the need to honour their tax obligations to enable the Assembly get enough funds for development projects.**
