Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa DCE tours BECE Centres

Breman Asikuma (C/R), April 20, GNA – Mr Sampson Kwame Anfako, District Chief Executive for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, has toured some centres of the Basic Education Certificate Examination in the district to assess the weeklong exercise.

The centres visited included Breman Asikuma Secondary School, Brakwa, Odoben and Kuntanse.

Interacting with supervisors, invigilators and teachers, Mr Anfako cautioned them to desist from assisting students during the examination since it has negative effects on the students at the secondary and tertiary levels.

He said there was no need for teachers to assist students to indulge in examination malpractices and stated that “students pass examination in the classrooms and not at the centres as some teachers perceive”. The DCE assured the District Director of the Ghana Education Service and the teachers that the District Assembly would do everything possible to assist them to ensure smooth invigilation of the five-day exercise. Mr Anfako stressed the government’s commitment to ensure the provision of infrastructure to promote quality education.

He expressed his satisfaction with the performance of schools in the area in last year’s BECE and urged the students to improve the results this year.
