Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Assembly improving IGF

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Oct.3, GNA – Internal Generated Fund by the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly increased from 82,946.47 in 2008 to 91,464.00 Ghana Cedis at the end of September 2009. The District Chief Executive, Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, made this known at the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Breman Asikuma on Thursday.

The DCE said efforts were being made to get the Assembly’s Revenue Mobilization Van on the road to improve on their efforts to mobilize more revenue.

She appealed to assembly members to assist the revenue staff to retrieve all rate arrears, and also educate people on the need to honour their tax obligation and other revenues to the District Assembly, to enable it get enough revenue to finance development programme. Mrs Aboah said the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has released an amount 372,187.23 Ghana Cedis to the Assembly as the first tranche of allocation based on the 2006 Functional Organizational Assessment Tool (FOAT) assessment under the District Development Facility.

The Presiding Member, Mr Anthony Kobina Amoakoh, said the poverty alleviation fund has now been channelled into the National Youth Employment Programme, adding that this would go a long way to reduce poverty among the youth.
