Breman Asikuma (C/R), Dec 25, GNA – Members of the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly have appealed to President J A Kufuor, to consider re-appointing the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Sampson Kwame Anfako, for a second term in 2005.
They commended the DCE for his prudent management that had brought development in the lives of the people in the district and pleaded with President Kufuor to re-appoint him to continue with his good work. The members made the appeal at the third session of the fourth assembly meeting at Breman Asikuma.
Mr Anthony Amoako, Assembly for Odoben, moved the motion appealing to the President to reappoint Mr Anfako for a second term, which was supported by the entire members of the Assembly.
Mr Amoako noted that there had been peace, unity and development in the district since Mr Anfako took over as DCE and said there was the need for continuity.
He said the four years administration of the DCE had ensured improved socio-economic advancement in the district.
Mr Amoako stated that under his leadership and initiative the standard of education in the district had improved, adding that, in 2003 the district placed 104 out of 110 but this year Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa placed 69.
He said the District Assembly constructed 46 new school blocks and rehabilitated existing structures and sunk 59 hand-dug wells and seven boreholes in a number of communities.
Mr Amoako said security had made life in the area easy while the numerous chieftaincy disputes in the district had reduced during the tenure of the DCE.
The Assemblyman said the people of the district endorsed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) first term of office and under the stewardship of Mr Anfako.
Mr Amoako said the DCE had played his role effectively and efficiently but conceded that as a human being he could not attain perfection in all endeavours.
