Ashehi holds graduation ceremony

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA – Mrs Essie Anno Sackey, Managing Director, Ghana Airport Company on Saturday urged the youth to make positive contributions to the society through the acquisition and application of knowledge acquired in school.

“In life, people wish that they understood that the essence of living is to make a positive difference. No matter how successful or unsuccessful people were they expressed a hunger to leave a legacy, to have made a positive”, she added.

Mrs. Sackey, who was speaking at the Graduation ceremony of the Ashesi University College said life was an adventure adding, “You will find that in your lives, home or in your communities you will undertake difficult endeavours in which the outcomes are unknown”. “Success and fulfilment are possible but only at the cost of hard work and a preparedness to take risks. Please think about simply survival and make informed choices that will determine your destiny”, she added.

Mrs. Sackey urge the graduands to choice rationally, tell the truth, learn and grow in their career to help in their holistic development.

Dr Patrick Awuah, President of the College urged the graduands to be an embodiment of the continent that would be free of disease, poverty and wars through the application of the knowledge acquired to liberate the continent.

He said renaissance on the continent will depend on inspired African leadership who were prepared to free the continent of its woes adding, “We must begin a new chapter with a sense of urgency because the alternative is despair”.

In all, 36 students were conferred with bachelor’s degrees in computer science and business administration. Ms Araba Mbirba Amuasi, graduated with the highest honours with a GPA of 3.85, special awards were presented to deserving students. Mr Sulemana Mohammed who emerged the overall best student in Corporate Finance, has been offered a two-year contract with IC Securities company.

Professor Dowini Dabire Kunpole, Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cape Coast who conferred the honours lauded the founder of the college for his contribution towards the growth of education in Ghana and called on businessmen to venture into the area of education to complement government’s effort. 15 Dec. 07
