Ashanti West ECG presents items to Rehabilitation Centre

Kumasi, Dec.22, GNA-The Ashanti West Region Senior Staff Association of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Friday presented food items

and toilet soap worth about two million cedis to Edwenase Vocational Rehabilitation Centre in Kumasi. The items which were received by Mr. Peter Oduro, Housemaster of the Centre were two mini bags of rice, two gallons of 93Frytol=94 edible oil three boxes of 93Piccadilly=94 biscuits, two crates of soft drinks, 20 tubers of yam and two carton bars of 93Key=94 soap.

Presenting the items, Mr Alex Boham, Chairman of the Association said members could not have enjoyed the yuletide without sharing what they were going to enjoy with their relatives. He said, the gift, even though small, was the beginning of worthy presents to come and hoped they would accept the items in good faith and feel as part of the Christmas celebration. Mr Boham told them not to be wary of their plight and should let their situation encourage them to work assiduously to improve on their standard of living.

Mr. Oduro thanked the Association for the gift and expressed the hope that other organisations and individuals would emulate the gesture. He said, the Centre established in 12962 has an inmate population of 70 who were pursuing vocational training in rural crafts, hairdressing, catering, dressmaking and agriculture. Present at the presentation ceremony were Miss Vivian Carrey, vice-chairman of the Association, Mrs Cecilia Mensah-Asare, an Executive member of the Association and Mr William Boateng, Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the ECG.
