Ashanti Regional Minister tours offices in Kumasi

Kumasi, March 24, GNA – Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister on Thursday toured some offices in the Kumasi metropolis to acquaint himself with their operations.

The offices included the Driving Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), British Council, the United Kingdom (UK) and Mali consulates. Mr Boafo, interacting with staff of the DVLA, said reports received at his office indicated that some of them have been issuing fake driving licenses and therefore asked them to put a stop to such practices.

He stressed the need for the Authority to offer quality services to the citizenry to help raise its image, which was very low in the eyes of the public.

Mr Abraham Tetteh, Ashanti Regional Licensing Officer said the DVLA has introduced a written examination in the issuance of licenses to drivers and was hopeful that the system would enhance activities of the authority.

At the British Council office, Mr Boafo commended the staff and the British Government for their efforts at assisting in the development of the country.

He expressed optimism that the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Britain would be strengthened and sustained for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

At the UK and Mali Consulates, the Regional Minister noted that the opening of the consulates would allow for easy acquisition of visas by residents in the metropolis.

Mr Munbida Mohammed, a clerk at the consulate of Mali, thanked the Regional Minister for the visit and hoped that the cordial relationship between Ghana, Mali, Britain and other countries would be further strengthened.
